Our Story<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The Queensland Multidisciplinary Initiative for Neurocognitive Difficulties (QLD MIND) Project was founded in 2018. It is a multi-site translational research project that represents an alliance between The University of Queensland, The Mater Group and The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH). At present, our group consists of more than seventy researchers, clinicians, academics, and postgraduate research students. In the few years since formation we have already commenced research across a broad spectrum of disorders including Parkinson\u2019s disease, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, and Epilepsy, as well as exploring the effects of normal ageing on cognition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cognitive difficulties (such as problems with memory or recognising facial emotions) create problems for many people in our community, and for some, can profoundly impact their quality of life and wellbeing. Our vision is to deliver the science that <\/span>establishes <\/span>when, why, and how <\/span>specific aspects of <\/span>cognitive function <\/span>break <\/span>down in people\u2019s <\/span>actual, daily <\/span>lives, and what strategies most effectively prevent this from occurring.\u202f<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Julie Henry<\/h3>\n

Julie is a Professor at The University of Queensland, and an Affiliate Professor at both The Queensland Brain Institute and The Mater Research Institute. She is also a Fellow of the\u00a0Academy of the Social Sciences\u00a0in Australia<\/em>\u00a0and of the\u00a0Association for Psychological Science<\/em>. Julie has published more than 200 original research articles (cited > 16,000 times in Scopus and > 31,000 times in Google Scholar), which appear in high impact outlets that include\u00a0Cognition<\/em>,\u00a0Psychological Bulletin<\/em>,\u00a0Cortex<\/em>,\u00a0Developmental Science<\/em>,\u00a0Annual Review of Psychology<\/em>,\u00a0Psychology and Aging<\/em>,\u00a0Emotion<\/em>,\u00a0Brain<\/em>,\u00a0Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews<\/em>, and\u00a0Nature Reviews Neurology.\u00a0<\/em>She has held many prestigious editorial appointments, including Editor-in-Chief of the\u00a0British Journal of Clinical Psychology<\/em>\u00a0(2011-2017), and is President of the\u00a0Australian Society for Philosophy and Psychology<\/em>. \u00a0Julie is also co\u2011chair of the Research Involvement Panel for StepUp for Ageing Research<\/a> and StepUp for Dementia Research<\/a>.
